This is a merry little adventure, cruisin the local Green Karst countryside via a network of at least a dozen beautiful local churches to showcase how pretty this mini region really is and to help you find those little stone tracks to go E Biking on that you would probubbly not find on your own!

HIGHLIGHTS..

we could not ask for better biking tracks around here..

• Most of the time you will have no clue where you are, but it doesn't matter, just roll and enjoy!
• Have a breather at the statue of Jakob & the Postojna Dragon..
• Ride the old Roman road and find a Napoleon bridge..
• Use Nanos mountain and some other Dinaric peaks to get an idea of where you are during the ride..
• A real mix of countryside, lush green fields, forest, little villages and of course.. a lot of churches!

DURATION..

Biking time about 3 to 4 hours, better to follow the marked route..

Plenty of opportunities to dismount and take photos and you could extend this route a little more for a cave visit, as it passes close to Postonja cave..

Nanos mountain is such a big lump of rock it is easy to see from most parts of this epic E Bike ride..

DESCRIPTION..

this is a LODGE LOOP.. so you leave from the Lodge and come back to the Lodge..

If you look up in Green Slovenia, you will very likely see a church or a mountain and often both!

So we decided the best way to knit together some of the most secret and exciting tracks we know close to the Lodge was to make a route that passed a dozen churches!

As churches often seem to get built on tops of hills or in the best spot in the village there will be a lot of excellent views on this trip and no mountains, but a fair amount of up and down, so perfect for an E Bike!

On this ride, you will get the magical feeling as if you have departed the modern world for a few hours, riding mostly along quiet local roads and stone tracks in what best can be described as the middle of nowhere.. or Green Paradise!

So the E Bike is needed on this route more to help you conquer the distance in secure comfort, than to worry about missing stuff stuff and going the wrong way!

There are several ups and downs though, so your bike will give you that little boost you require to make the day a work out, but not exhausting..

You do not have to be religious or even have an interest in churches to do this ride, but it just so happens there are a lot of pretty churches around here and they are great spots to take a photo from.. so why not! 

We will not go into detail about villages or names of churches here as you can use our Komoot ap to guide you along the way and enjoy discovering them all when you do this very unexpected, but massively rewarding E Bike ride!

THINK ABOUT..

This route is amazing whichever way round you do it, but if you are thinking of incorporating a visit to Postojna cave, then do the route in reverse maybe, as the cave will come up sooner when you feel a lot fresher.

The route skirts the edge of Postojna too, so if you need to pop into the town for something, this could be your day to do that too.

Apart from the pretty churches, you will also roll past the best Pizzeria in the area, which opens around 3pm most days, so if you would like to eat there (and we recommend you do, cos the pizzas are fantastic), then make sure your ride starts in the early afternoon!
