Flights
We have two international airports really close to the Lodge, being Ljubljana in Slovenia (50 mins) and Trieste in Italy (45 mins). Our guests also fly in from Venice Marco Polo, Venice Treviso in nearby Italy and Zagreb, Pula & Rijeka in nearby Croatia!.
We are happy to help you find the best route, airline and destination airport for your visit to Green Slovenia, so please just email us and give us some details.. in the meantime this page shows the huge choice of flights that were available before the crisis. (some of the airlines below have even gone out of business, so we will refresh and update all the links when the covid crisis has finally settled down)..
If you do fly, there are many ways to minimise your carbon footprint once you get to the Greenest country in Europe.. here at the Lodge we use 100% solar power and try our very best to help you with your Green responsibilities.. for example you can recharge your E car here at the Lodge or rent E bikes instead of even using a car.. if you would like to know more, then please just visit our GO GREEN page!
Due to excellent motorway connections and our central position, there are lots of other larger airport options. Depending on where you are flying from and which airline can give you the best price, these other airports may be a better option.
Venice in Italy is only 1 hr 50 mins / Treviso, also in Italy, is just less than 2 hours. Zagreb in Croatia is just less than 2 hours and has many direct flights to major cities, including Heathrow T1. Klagenfurt in Austria and Rijeka in Croatia are just over 90 mins from Lipizzaner Lodge!
So here is a list of cities you can fly from to get to Lipizzaner Lodge.
To Ljubljana (Slovenia) 50 mins
We are delighted to inform you that Ljubljana airport has just completed a major transformation and is now worthy of your visit.. it is now a proper cute little international airport that Green Slovenia can be proud of.
The whole of the old airport was transformed into one Arrivals area and a huge new Departures building has been added next to it. There is a simple drop off area for cars and huge excellent car parks.. IT ALL WORKS and we would go as far as to say now.. if you can get a connection to Ljubljana airport, then this would be the one to come to start your Slovenian adventures!
OK, we are not overjoyed at some things, like the info people are hidden away in a glass box now, so not as welcoming as before and there are LONG walks for disabled or older people AND of course there is no rail link yet into Ljubljana direct from the airport, BUT overall we think it is a fantastic improvement!
Oh yes and if you can work out which cake is which from the slighty kooky menus then absolutely try out the fab cakes at the new airport cafes.. wow!

Airport Pick Ups
We charge you the lowest possible price we can for your pick up. This is the cost of fuel plus €20 per driver hour, (so for example, Ljubljana airport is about 1 hour to the airport and 1 hour driving you back = 2 hours, so the cost each way would be €40 + fuel €15 = €55 ). There are lots of airports to choose from, so please check our pick up price with us at info@lipizzanerlodge.com and book your pickup in advance when you know your flight details.
And if there is a group of you or you have a lot of luggage then we can recommend a really good local minibus service and get you a quote depending on where you are coming from.. Please just ask!
